DigiTimes Corroborates June WWDC iPhone 5 Release Date
Asia’s top tech newsmaker DigiTimes has joined the growing sense that the iPhone 5 will make its debut at Apple’s WWDC this June.
Just a brief update here: we want to keep you updated on the latest news surround the iPhone 5 release date, and particularly how more and more tech news sites are talking about Apple’s WWDC in June as a probable venue for unveiling the iPhone 5 once and for all. We reported yesterday about the upward trend of reports concluding that a June iPhone 5 release date is likely, all of which have stemmed from last week’s article from 9to5Mac, citing one of their inside sources at Foxconn. Today, DigiTimes has also come out with their own story, echoing the 9to5Mac article: “Apple is expected to unveil its iPhone 5 smartphone at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) to be held in June 2012, the Chinese-language Commercial Times quoted Daiwa Securities as indicating.”
Something that we have argued in our recent discussions about a June iPhone 5 release date is that much will depend on what we hear coming out of Asia in terms of production ramp-up. Last Summer, we had a steady stream of production rumors that crescendoed into perhaps an anti-climactic iPhone 4S release. This time around, however, production rumors should be pointing to a full-fledged iPhone 5 release.
However, if by April wee have heard little more about mass production for the iPhone 5 being underway, analysts will have to rethink whether or not June really is a possibility for the iPhone 5′s release.
