iPhone 4S vs iPhone 4 Video Footage Comparison
Various shots from both iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s filmed holding at same time with shake to test stabilisation. iPhone 4S shows dramatical increase in latitude and the stabilization is amazing too. Same field of view. Shows flickering in Europe, but overall is a major improvement.
Otterbox has reissued their line of cases to accommodate the new iPhone 4S. The cases are now compatible with both AT&T and Verizon iPhone 4 in addition to the iPhone 4S. It appears Otterbox has made a few changes to the case since IGM last reviewed. These changes beyond slight tweaks needed for the iPhone 4S controls. The camera cutout is now much larger and a full oval vs sort of a keyhole cutout. Also the area around the earpiece is now a large cutout rather than individual sections for the front camera, sensors and ear piece. Other than that, the case seems the same basic concept of multi-layer protection. The first layer is a hardshell surrounded by a rubber skin. The case also offers film protectection for the touch screen, camera, and Apple logo.

People hating on the 4s because they don’t have one? Haha. Just admit that it’s a better piece of kit. I do, my 4 sucks balls compared to my mates 4s. In speed generally, plus the camera, plus siri.
One can clearly see much more detail in highlight and shadow on the 4s. iPhone 4s is not shaking due to the stabilizer right?

@David20931 Absolutely, but it can’t be that much difference from the angle. He is not using a superzoom, it’s a wide field view, he is moving a lot, so a few centimeters left or right can’t generate that color temperature difference … I’d rather say the white ballance processing or setting is different on the two devices.

@3volcoms so true! omfg! here is why iphone 4 wins:
-iphone 4 doesn’t let wind into it’s speaker as the iphone 4s lets alot if wind into them
- iphone 4 allows light to travel through lens perfectly, as for the iphone 4s, it makes these mad lines when filming on light.
-iphone 4 is just 2 seconds slower on internet than the 4s, which means you are paying an extra $200 or £200 just for 2 seconds improvement.

@elusivellama Oh ok.. Well I had heard that the Iphone 4 case affects flash pictures on the 4s by reflection somehow but I never owned the Iphone 4 case so if you say so then I must have heard incorrectly.
@TheOtherMan11 The camera on the 4S does not need the larger cutout, the camera and flash are the same size. It’s the aperture of the camera which changed, not the size of the lens that you see on the outside. I suspect that it’s cheaper to produce a case with a simple oval cutout, omitting the more complex teardrop shape of the old case. The flash on my 4S works perfectly fine even through the old style teardrop cutout.
@Mackroxy91 It’s beautiful, yes, but some people just need the additional protection when they’re going about their job… outdoor work, etc. For everyone else, there are three choices, really. One, leave the phone exactly the way it is and risk scratches on the glass surfaces. This fake Gorilla Glass in the iPhone 4S can be scratched by something as minor as lint on a shirt. I know this because my phone has a very light scratch on the back because I used my shirt to wipe off a fingerprint.
@graeamos I have the Otterbox Commuter for the iPhone 4, and it fits on my 4S with no issues. The mute switch is off-centre within the cutout of the silicone skin, but does not go underneath the silicone and can still be easily accessed. The cutout on the back of the commuter has the same tear-drop shaped recessed peepholes for the camera/flash as the Defender you’re asking about, and I just took a couple pics in a very dark room with the flash. Pics look good, the flash does NOT get blocked.

@graeamos It will fit it, but it’s not compatible with the 4s because they moved the proximity sensor on the phone which tells the phone black the screen when you pull it close to face during a phone call to prevent you from accidentally dialing or hanging up. In other words, the Iphone 4 case will cover that sensor on the 4s causing the screen not to black. Also the camera on the 4s needs a larger cut out. Plus i think they changed the volume buttons’ positions but idk for sure on that.

Lol Well I personally just love Otterbox, especially the defender series case for the Iphone 4s. Mine has a black outer silicone cover with a royal blue hard plastic inner layer. There are sooo many things to love about this case but my favorite attribute is the scent. I find the scent of the case to be very discrete and light which is just so delightful. Most other cases I’ve tried had a peculiar scent that I wasnt too fond of but Otterbox has done a great job eliminating this problem. LMAO!!

It’s really big and the rubber brakes, but it can take a pretty good drop without a single worry.

@Mackroxy91 I agree with you, but the case protects the phone extremely well. You can drop the phone without fear of damaging it.
